HAWAII FIVE-O is a contemporary take on the classic drama series about a new elite federalized task force whose mission is to wipe out the crime that washes up on the Islands' sun-drenched beaches. According to IGN, James Marsters could be in more than just the pilot of the Hawaii Five-O reboot. The series will air on CBS, and stars Alex O’Loughlin (Moonlight, “The Back Up Plan”), Scott Caan (Oceans 11), Daniel Dae Kim (Lost, Angel the series) and Grace Park (Battlestar Gallactica).
Not much information is provided, but all most Whedonverse fans need is a tease to get excited about their favorite talents:
One more bit of geek-bait in Hawaii Five-0 is James Marsters, known to Buffy and Angel fans for his role as Spike. Marsters plays the bad guy in the pilot, and I asked Orci (Robert Orci, executive producers) if it was a one-off role or whether he could return to face Steve McGarrett again. Orci replied, “The editing room will tell! We still have much to decide how it will end. Until it airs, it’s just a work in progress.”
Ultimately whether Marsters would return on the show depends on too many variables to count (schedules, surprising deaths, popularity of the show to hire guest stars of Marsters’ caliber) but if fans tune in and give the show a head up in ratings, that’s probably the best way they can try to ensure they see more of Marsters’ character in the series. And yes, we’re big fans of his.
Look for Hawaii Five-O on your TV screens this fall on CBS.
