Based on one look of the White Collar DVD cover for season 2, I have a new phrase. Wanna hear it? It’s, “I swear by the blue of Matt Bomer‘s eyes!” I mean, have you seen those puppies? They are bluer than blue! No wonder Neal can be such a charmer. And season 2 of WC (White Collar) was no exception. Neal was slick, sneaky, and by the end of the season he was under a lot of suspicion…by Peter! To find out how their perfect(ish) partnership got that way, you’ve got to go back to the start of season 2 and see it through. You’ll even be treated to a flashback episode. And, of course, you’ll also be treated to special features on the DVD.

There are seven different types of special features on the White Collar DVD for season 2:

So Here’s the Deal: Anatomy of an Episode: You get a look of the writer’s room as they’re spitballin’ ideas together. This is mixed with Jeff Eastin as a talking head, explaining what he wanted out of White Collar season 2. If you wanted inside the head of a Eastin, this is a good way to get there. But we also get to see past the script, such as how the directors of White Collar think and deal with issues. I think this particular segment helps fans really feel more part of show, in a unique way. This is for the fans that care about more than just how pretty Matthew Bomer is. This is behind-the-scenes fun. But you will see some talking heads from Bomer,  Tim Dekay, Willie Garson, Tiffani Thiessen, etc. Guess what? They all love shooting in New York City. Not a surprise? Oh. Whether you realize it or not, one of the best things about White Collar is how cinematic it is.  And that doesn’t just happen by chance. (My favorite part might have been the little bit about the Burke house. And yet…the bribery bit with Bomer at the very end is priceless. As is the rumor Dekay started about Evian water… oh, there’s just too many goodies, guys.)


Slick Willie: This attempts to answer the question, “who the hell is Mozzie?” And the answer is…he’s many things. And they tease us that there will be more romance for Mozzie in the future. (I must point you guys to my Willie Garson Interview, because he’s truly a joy to be around.)

White Collar Roasts Burn Notice: They share a network and studio, plus a great sense of humor. You see the writer’s of White Collar making fun of Burn Notice, interspersed with Burn Notice clips. Both “teams” really have a field day, all in good humor (I hope!)

Deleted Scenes: I especially enjoyed seeing Sara and Burke meeting in the flashback. There’s also a memorable quote, “Hold on, I’m gonna Caffrey my way out of here.”

Gag Reel: Yes, I’d pretty much love to be a fly on a wall. This is a willy bunch. Bomer slurps, Thiessen slaps, Dekay dances… and they all seem to have a bit of ninja in them. And it all ends with a peeing dog. No, really.

Audio Commentary on Select Episodes: There are three commentary tracks. “Under the Radar” features Jeff Eastin, Matt Bomer, Tim Dekay, Willie Garson and Tiffani Thiessen. “Point Blank” features Jeff EAstin, Matt Bomer and Tim Dekay. “Forging Bonds” features Jeff Eastin, Matt Bomer, Tim Dekay, Willie Garson and Tiffani Thiessen.

Additionally, I like that the episode guide is laminated inside of the inner front flap. And re-living these episodes reminds me of just how witty the writers of White Collar are. It’s a great DVD, and a great USA Network series.
