Weeds Season 6 Finale Review
| November 16, 2010 at 3:13 AM ESTLast night on Weeds we all learned that Plan C saved Nancy Botwin aka Nathalie Newman. It was such an emotional finale, I’ll admit I got teary.
Talking points:
Did you think the title quote of the season 6 finale would come from Justin Kirk’s character, Andy? Who would have thought that Richard Dreyfuss’s character would say it with such meaning and have such a poignant goodbye after how goofy he’d been. Now that he’s gone, I almost want him back. (EDIT: Okay, it was Silas who said it but the idea behind the quote was from Dreyfuss’s character. I am not infallible!)
I did think, however, it was odd how that character was so unaware of reality through most of this finale, but when it came time to pretend he didn’t know Shane, hint to him about the pillow, and saying goodbye to Nancy, he became very lucid. Do you think it was an adrenaline rush or something?
With a re-watch, you’ll notice really cool things. Remember hearing the announcements asking for Andy Newman and Nathalie Newman after Andy had made the call about Nancy? I think the cops were trying to lure the Botwin’s to the cops without causing a fuss.
You’ll also notice that Nancy was so aware of Plan C, not only did she ask questions to reassure her plan would work (like no one else had seen the DVD) but as they were walking she was taking note of the police and hoping they were approaching HER!
Andy knew she was going to be arrested. But I think both Shane and Silas thought their Mom was literally abandoning them to be with Stevie instead of leaving him. But Nancy knew there was no way Esteban would let Nancy go unpunished. She was the only one, aside from Andy, who knew she was going to possibly be murdered. Do you think so? I know Silas and Shane were mad, but everything that was said reinforces the idea they thought that Nancy had a choice in whether she got on the plane.
The song at the end of the Weeds season 6 finale was by Gin Wigmore. It has quite a nice meaning, and her voice is so freakin’ good!
I hear you’re leaving town,
And I am feeling down,
You should know that nothing leaves my side,
I’m gonna come round,
I’m gonna shoot you down,
You knocked my crown,
Now you can go six feet underground.
Your lies have broke my life,
Say goodbye my angel,
I gave you all my love,
To sleep alone my angel.
Hey Ho,
Nobody knows you’re not coming home,
Hey Ho,
Nobody knows you’re not coming home.
Don’t you take me here,
And don’t you touch me there,
I am digging your grave and you stay there,
Can you see the light,
And think you’re still alive,
Believe me baby you won’t come back again.
Your lies have broken my life,
Say goodbye my angel,
I gave you all my love,
To sleep alone my angel.
Hey Ho,
Nobody knows you’re not coming home,
Hey Ho,
Nobody knows you’re not coming home.
It didn’t have to be this way,
Playing games and lost one day,
Have mercy on my lonely soul,
It wasn’t me it was you ya know.
Your lies have broke my life,
Say goodbye my angel,
I gave you all my love,
To sleep alone my angel,
Your lies have broke my life,
Say goodbye my angel.
Hey Ho,
Nobody knows you’re not coming home,
Hey Ho,
Nobody knows you’re not coming home.
