Twitter Phenom ‘Shit My Dad Says’ to be TV Sitcom
The Twitter account Shit My Dad Says is going to be a TV sitcom over at CBS. The bio for the twitter, and basis for the show is as follows: I’m 29. I live with my 73-year-old dad. He is awesome. I just write down shit that he says. The guy behind the keyboard is Justin Halpern.Though his last name is close to ‘Halpert’ no clue whether he’s as dreamy as a one Mr. Jim Halpert (The Office). Besides, the real star here is Justin’s Dad. Of course, if his Dad has no knowledge of this Twitter account this might also spin-off to a reality tv show where Justin is getting sued. Either way, we have comedy gold.
CBS has picked up a comedy project based on the Twitter account, which has enlisted more than 700,000 followers since launching in August and has made its creator, Justin Halpern, an Internet star.
Will & Grace creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick are on board to executive produce and supervise the writing for the multicamera family comedy, which Halpern will co-pen with Patrick Schumacker.
Twitter account ideas that would not make the cut? “Foods my five-year-old daughter ate today.” “Things I’ve done with pickles.” “Reasons I won’t go to Outer Space.”
