Don’t disagree with True Blood fans. Or, if you do, be ready to defend your critical opinions against blanket accusations that if you don’t like a promotional picture, you must not even watch the show. (Ha!) I’m standing up for justice, the Americanizzle (sure, why not) way, and my right to not love everything associated with the show.

Alexander Skarsgard, Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer posed for a recent cover of Rolling Stone – promoting HBO’s True Blood. The show? The show I like. But I did not like the cover. And I told you guys this -‘member? A few new commenter said all True Blood fans did like it, and I probably hadn’t even seen the show. Obviously, that was way off base. TV is my life, duh. And besides, I wasn’t the only person who thought it was a bad cover.

And then I thought of a similar Rolling Stone shoot that incorporated blood that I also didn’t like. (Yea, I do know it’s dangerous to say I don’t like blood spattered everywhere in this era of VAMPIRES, YAY.)

So, what is the image I’m thinking of?

I’m talking about a picture that promoted the actresses of Scream 2: Neve Campbell, Heather Graham, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Tori Spelling. In it, Graham and Campbell seem to be kind of just having some awkward fun with it. Pinkett Smith and Spelling look devious, Gellar looks like she’s a Lolita type that’s has to pee but also wants you to think she’s sexy.

The main difference in these photos? CLOTHING, yes. And that does allow for more blood. But I think the reason I like this Scream 2 image from Rolling Stone more is because some of the actresses are having fun and have a hint of humor in their eyes. I wish Paquin et al had smiled and revealed how awkward that shoot must have been – then it could have gone from a 3 to a 10.
