We are four days behind the USA, but I too feel this whole love triangle has been cheapened. It is pretty disgusting ‘Delena’ can only be justified by a sire bond. Others have quite rightly commented that the sire bond is not a pre-requisite for vampires to have sex. Quite honestly, is that the best the writers could come up with – it contrived, manipulated and actually amounts to unconsensual sex and is pure grime. The show had always maintained a romantic mysticism between the three central characters, this ‘love triangle’ has lost its magic.

Love klaroline and steroline friendship…I agree elena moving into Damon and stefan’s place is unfair on stefan, they just broke up!! Ok listen Delena lovers, calm down, lets look at this sire bond thing in a totally tdifferent way for a moment, a good way! This sire bond makes their love so much stronger and the sex so much more intense than it could ever be with Stephen. The blood, they are forever connected through the blood! This is a GREAT THING!! This connection will make them closer than they ever could be with anyone else. I like the idea that it happened because she is a Doppleganger and not your average person who got made into a vampire. That could be why the rare instance of siring happened to her. So you guys have to look at this siring thing as a special romantic connection that she can only share with Damon. And no one is allowed to stop watching, we all have three years invested in this and they are finally sleeping together! Don’t you dare stop watching or I will send Klaus to kick your ass! And you know he will. Besides it looks like we get more continuing bedroom scene from what I saw of the coming attractions for next week. It looked to me like Elena was laying on top of Damon in bed wearing his sexy black shirt! I slow motioned it a few times, ok many times, check it out for yourselves! haha

I found this whole episode slightly uncomfortable and awkward. The only natural moments were the Klaus/Caroline scenes. April is completely devoid of depth, though I get the feeling the writers have something in store for her. I’m so bored of the back and forth between Stefan/Elena/Damon. I think everyone needs to realise this season will never end with either brother getting the girl. It would be impossible to have one brother couple up with her permanently and then continue the show. My bet is she ends up being turned back into a human (as I doubt the show are going to follow the path of the books with ghostly Elena). The sire bond is actually quite common in vampire literature so I’m not that shocked. Disagree with those who say it’s lazy writing, they’ve been building up to this with all the little out-of-character Damon-influenced decisions Elena has been making, this tied it all together nicely. At the end of the day Delena fans need to realise that the main plot arch is planned in advance so there is obviously a reason for this twist, and this show and the books are actually quite distinct from each other so you shouldn’t expect all the same stuff to happen.
Last thing, Prof, Shane is a dick though I think he might be the witch that was buried alive that he gave a lecture about in the last episode.

In season 3 (cannot remember which episode but the one in which we first find out about Tyler being sired to Klaus) Damon does mention this whole sire-thing. He indicated it was very rare among vampires but might be more common in hybrids.

TOTALLY agree with you. Last night’s episode went right back to season 1. The overall feel of the final scene was evil Damon good Stefan and poor Elena. It trashed all the character development of the preceding three seasons. I think they could have let Elena be single for a while and give her character the time and space to explore her feelings for Damon. Even if at the end of the series the writers want her to be with Stefan they did not have to cheapen the relationship she has with Damon.

OMG I TOTALLY agree with you about the ending. I was SO UPSET by the explanation of why Damon and Elena finally got together. It is RIDICULOUS to say that her feelings for Damon are only because his blood helped turn her into a vampire. For the past 3 seasons we have been watching them get closer and we have watched how Damon’s love for Elena has changed him. The Damon from the first half of season 1 who used and abused Caroline is NOT the same person we see now. Elena played a HUGE part in his transformation and she has true feelings for the man Damon has become. There was NO NEED whatsoever to come up with this plot line that she is sired to Damon.

I am beyond PISSED with the writers of TVD. I think in the end they do want to Elena to be with Stefan and although I love Delena, if that is how the show ends I will be okay with that because she does love Stefan and Stefan loves her and they have been through a LOT. But I really wish the writers would have given Elena’s character time to thoroughly explore the feelings she has for Damon.

OMG Damon is going to be CRUSHED when he finds out.

I whole heartedly agree! It was too quick for Elena to jump Damon’s bones but hey if it was me I’d be there season 1! Still the scene was fabulous (exceptions being Caroline’s voice over and the cuts back to her and Mr Boring). But the sire thing…talk about disheartening. I just can’t believe they went that way. As most have already pointed out Elena was ‘consumed’ by her feelings for Damon way before any vampire blood got near her. The episode ended and instead of a fist pump after finally FINALLY seeing Delena the way it should be I really felt ripped off. In the words of the delicious Damon Salvatore..’I wanted it to be real’.

Just this episode for Delena, but not even 5 minutes without the cut scene to Stefan and Caroline. Back and forth knowing that this is not going to go down well with Damon…..when he finds out that Elena’s feelings are not real. He may as well have compelled her and we all know if he wanted to do that he would have. I really feel for the guy, perhaps he should move on and all of us Delena fans as well. This is sad to admit but we need to get out now!

They wil have their moment again. Didn’t anyone read the books? She realises after Damon dies that he was the one for her. I doubt they will kill him but if they do it will feel very buffy/spike. I think the fact that Damon has cured many of her other problems in the past should have affected the siring, that and being interwoven in her blood stream from the change and from blood sharing. If it doesn’t happen now it will, after all at comicon they sid that it was a story about two brothers and a woman so the triangle will always be present in some way. Stefan is definately looking at it the wrong way about her change and the older brother is fine either way. I just hope that they don’t end off the season with some ‘i’m choosing myself’ conclusion for her because that’s depressing. In the books Damon is briefly turned into a human if I recall correctly but they wouldn’t do that. It makes me wonder though if there will be some kind of cure in the near future.

Yea, I see that and agree. But it’s pretty much the whole premise of the television show. This love triangle. It’s obvious neither brother has any respect for the other in that sense. Stefan kept dating Katherine when he knew Damon was with her too. It’s unfair for them, if this is going to be the center of the series (the triangle), to only really test out one relationship for real. Damon and Elena deserve a fair shot as well. It’s a TV show. But I agree – in real life. Not okay to date brothers ex-girlfriends. But that value is just completely irrelevant to the series at this point. I would have liked if they had made the transfer a little bit more delicate than they did – the way they switched from Stefan and Damon was crap and more than disrespectful to both Stelena fans AND Delena fans. Just really poor writing in general.

It was a lazy cop out because it belittles everything about the Damon/Elena relationship and moments. It was only one scene, but it was one scene that basically threw EVERYTHING past scene and moment, growth and development of these two characters and they’re relationship and basically threw it in the trash. Yes. That is lazy writing. Yes that is a cop out. Why? because it brings us back to the same story-line, the same characterization of good brother versus bad brother for the always innocent and vulnerable girl. No real character development or depth – there was a chance for some depth and interesting turns and developments, but nope. Here we are back to square one. Because it’s too difficult to explore a real relationship on both sides. It’s so obviously biased. That is poor writing. I’m sorry. It just is. And yes, in one scene. Because NEWS FLASH: that’s how powerful writing can be. That’s how powerful film is in general. Who freaking cares if it was one scene or not – it did a pretty damaged job for thousands of fans out there I think that should say enough. Seriously. Your comment has no depth – I can see why you totally missed these facts.

Vampire diaries doesn’t remain faithful to the book series but in their own way they do incorporate certain elements from the books. In the books Elena drank Damon’s blood before she died. When she turned into a vampire she was sired to him. Though I don’t think they used the word “sire”. Its the same thing thats happening here. As a major fan of the book I’m glad it happened, but as a major Delena fan I seriously hope that after she breaks the bond she still choses Damon. And btw, sire bond between vampires was previously mentioned on the show, though it was said to be pretty rare. Then again she’s also a doppelgänger and thats also pretty rare.

On a different note, I really enjoyed Claroline scenes this week.though I’m still a bit iffy about them. And I still can’t decide if Shane and Phoebe Tonkin’s character (i cant remember her name because to me will always be Faye) are either good or bad. I hope that by the mid-season finale they reveal their intentions because they simply cant keep dragging this mystery throughout the whole season.

P.S. I am loving Jeremy’s story this season!

Okay the whole sire thing makes no sense. I understand why the hybrids feel sired to Klaus because he took away their pain of having to turn at every full moon but why would Elena be sired to Damon? Because his blood made her into a vampire? She never wanted to be a vampire in the first place so why would she be sired. I’m pissed that the writers did that. It took a good 4 seasons for Damon and Elena to be together and they ruined it! Now on the other hand I really enjoyed the Klaus and Caroline scenes. I’m excited to see where those two go.

Seriously? I have been anxiously awaiting this moment between Damon and Elena for THREE SEASONS. Words cannot describe my excitement and enthusiasm for Damon and Elena to finally have a chance to at least test things out on a real level. I’m sorry, but is this lazy writing because Elena was sired while she had all these “moments” with Damon? If anything, the LAZY, COP OUT writing would have been having Damon and Elena coming together so easily Elena telling Stefan to move on with such ease, and her agreeing to everything Damon says and asks. That annoyed me, now it doesn’t because it was a perfect twist. I’m pointing this out, Elena acknowledge her love for Damon as a human and still choose Stefan. What does her becoming a vampire have to do with anything? Her feelings her supposed to be heightened, yes. For both Damon AND Stefan, but because Elena is sired her feelings became more intense. Another thing, there are plenty other Damon and Elena scenes, kissing scenes. It’s ONE scene. Calm down seriously and you should seriously learn what makes a good show, and I’m quite scared to ever watch a Joss Whedon show because if you consider this terrible, I’m even more frighted of what you find to be a good show.

It’s funny how mad these Delena fans are. Personally, I thought this was done fantastically because it makes sense! Throughout the season I’ve notice things about Elena that make zero sense, it’s came together nicely. To the person who says the writers are team Stelena and treat Delena moments like garbage, you lost all respect from a serious opinion. The writers are Delena fans, at least one of main writers are, and there are MANY Delena moments that have happened and are treated beautifully and – what most teenage fans of the show would say – full of lost and sexual tension. Don’t be dramatic and stop whining because Elena is sired to Damon and it MIGHT be the only reason why Elena “choose” Damon. Before you Delena fans thumb down my comment (Which I’m sure you will because I’m not screaming [typing in caps] “Delena needed to be together 4evrrrr and this show is terrible writing”) I’m neither team Delena or Stelena, if any team I’m team Caroline and Klaus and Stefan and his happiness (He’s the most complicated character on the show for me, Damon may be the bad-boy who learns to love, and wants to be good for a girl he loves. Though, really what fun is it now that we know him? At least for me, it feels like it’s been done before, not as beautifully, but all the same.) Klaus and Caroline are a huge reason. I couldn’t care less about anything else. Unless the Original Family comes back. I miss the lot. I’m excited for what’s to come this season as long as Elena doesn’t start “This brother…or this brother?” because it’s starting to annoy me. I could never get Damon or a Stefan to even look at me, it would take me all of a coin toss to pick. Sheezes.

I stopped watching TVD last season, when I saw the terrible writing on the wall. TVD used to be a great show, and I have been reading the reviews for this season to see if it’s gotten better. But I see that this show continues to take zero risks, hence my departure.

I am hoping when it comes all down to the season’s finale that it turns out that Elena can be sired by Damon, but most of the time she isn’t being sired. That she is making most of her own choices. By the season finale maybe people will still think she’s being sired because she still cares about Damon, she still trust Damon and because she still listens to Damon. The truth is Elena has always kept a certain part of her hidden and the only person who sees that part of her is Damon. I thought Klaus was trying to put out there to Caroline the idea that maybe her turning into a vampire people are starting see her more for who she really is. What is really in her heart?

Cheated? Hellz yeah!! What an insulting way to present the moment Damon and Elena FINALLY hook up. This was just the worst thing. It demeans every moment that built them up. More than three years waiting and it was all ruined by Caroline talking about the stupid sire bond!! The way the writers treat Delena on the show is aweful.
