The Vampire Diaries’ Daniel Gillies: ‘There is a Romance Happening…’

Do you daydream about Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Elena (Nina Dobrev?) You aren’t the only one.

In a recent exclusive interview with Alix of The TV Chick, Daniel Gillies opened up about his character of Elijah on The Vampire Diaries. While most fans are busy trying to decide whether they like Stefan and Elena (Stelena) or Damon and Elena (Delena) they forget that there’s another really fun option… Elejah! (Elijna?)

When asked about the pairing, Gillies had plenty of thoughts, and even a fun Dracula reference! “I don’t know, I think that there is a romance happening anyway, at least in my mind. They might not be articulating it, they might not be saying it, but there’s something kind of going on between them. I can’t explain it. But it’s just there when you see the two of them. It’s in the very classical sense of the older, more regal — in the tradition of the vampire, it’s often the older guy or whatever, and the fascinating, maiden-like beauty. There’s something Dracula about their relationship, between Elijah and Elena. I don’t know why, but for some reason, that emerges.”
