The Nine Lives of Chloe King Game: Discovering the Origin of the Mai
| May 27, 2011 at 5:50 PM EDTAre you guys ready for the second path in The Nine Paths to Chloe King game (for, you guessed it, The Nine Lives of Chloe King)? To catch up, see how I did with the first path and check out the ABC Family site with the next clue. Don’t forget, you can play too!
An e-mail came to me from a mysterious, anonymous, Mai contact, that had an attached photo and the following three questions:
- What is the ancient Egyptian name for this statue?
- What very warm and bright star did ancient Egyptians originally connect to this statue?
- What city in Egypt contained a “cult” that was dedicated to the Goddess connected to this statue?
Turns out, it was not the exact statue that mattered, it was the type of statue and what it represented. I luckily already knew that Egyptians worshiped cats, which is what pointed me towards Egypt. (I happen to be a cat person, so I think they were very smart to worship cats!) The cat statue is named Bastet. Bastet was the cat Goddess of Ancient Egyptian Religion. I did some Google research and found that the “very warm and bright star” connected with Bastet is the sun. The city with the cult to the Goddess was the ancient Egyptian city of Bubastis, located along the Nile River. The name “Bubastis” actually roughly translatres to “Bastest” in fact.
With those answers, the e-mail told me to enter the three search terms into YouTube search. The words together are: Bastet sun Bubastis. When I searched for that, the following video came up:
It turns out that the Mai is the offspring of the Goddess Bastet. They used to get along with humans. The have lots of empathy, and Pharoh’s used to get advice from the Mai. But then humans turned against the Mai. They began to hunt the Mai – but The Uniter will stop this hunting, and help the humans and Mai get along again. It looks like I was smart when I thought some of the symbols used for this show looked Egyptian! (I’ve never read the books, I had no clue if I was even close to right.)
If you follow along with my journey (I’ll discuss it on Small Screen Scoop, here, as well as on my Twitter feed @ThisJessicaRae – if you follow me and I’ll always gladly follow you back) you’ll get passwords from me to unlock free gifts from ABC Family! When you see me using the hash tag #NinePaths that’s what to look for – as that’s when I’m posting about this Nine Paths game!
