The Kate/Claire Connection on LOST

While we gasped with sadness at the shock of seeing Sawyer pulling out a hidden engagement ring he’d planed to give to Juliet – that wasn’t our top moment of last night’s Lost episode “What Kate Does”. It was the entire episode of how Kate and Claire had a bond. Unlike many women portrayed on TV, they weren’t catty and they weren’t being friends in a saccharine way. They were two strangers, supporting each other because no one else was there for them. Kate returned to Claire with her bags, and Kate’s returned to the island to find Claire. Kate and Claire are intertwined. And that’s fascinating!

Yeah, I don’t think I’d be all friendly and asking the gun wielding stranger who robbed me to be my emotional support when going up to the house.
So Claire is the new Russo, huh? And I guess Sayid isn’t Jacob afterall. Weird stuff.

True, I wouldn’t either. I have no clue why Claire trusted Kate, but maybe because she was feeling really alone and was sensing the people she’d come here for hadn’t just forgotten her but didn’t want her baby anymore. I dunno.
Sayid not being Jacob really threw me for the proverbial loop.

kate and claire have a bond regardless of island. in my head, that is the point. the same way kate looked at jack as she car-jacked the cab, they have a sense of recognition about each other that is true and real even if they had never arrived at the island. kate is meant to be a part of claire’s life, to care for her and aaron, and would be even if eight-fifteen had never crashed into the ocean. shrug?
