What did Fans think of The Cape with Summer Glau?

Summer Glau was great, as always. Sadly, even she cannot save this show. It is absolutely doomed. I’m sure of it. First The Event and now this? Oh, NBC, I used to like your shows!

I think it had its moment but everything seems so scripted. there is no real flow from one thing to another. And uh fighting in a kitchen of a packed restaurant and yet neary a worker in sight…weird. I mean usually there is a nice shot of people running scared but no just empty. I think the main guy takes the brooding man act too far. Punctuated with some real laugh out loud moments though that were a bit unexpected for such a somber moments. Good not great.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and also would not doom it yet. It’s far more interesting than the event, I wouldn’t even think of comparing the two. Also, I thought flowed extremely well, in a comic book way, more like Heroes. The characters are developed enough for me to want to know more. Yeah, I really liked it, not to mention Summer who is always a treat to watch!

It’s Schumacher’s Batman in the Nolanverse, except the two leads don’t quite seem to get it’s supposed to be camp and hammy, and it has a shoestring budget.

The hero is wooden, and while Frain plays Flemming with some believability, he utterly fails as “Chess.” Neither Lyons or Frain have the presence needed for a larger than life character (as indeed, superheroes/villains are supposed to be).

The main supporting players are the stars of the show. David (and the rest of the circus troupe) understands the need to be hammy in a larger than life role, and Klebba has superb comic timing.

I admit I watched this mostly for Summer Glau. What can I say, she’s great eye-candy and she’s talented. Plus the girl can throw down.

I can buy into the investigative blogger bit, but it seems they could’ve done better than just a guy in a cape. It’s nice how they portray Faraday as a loving, devoted family man. And the premise of the story, a regular guy fighting to get his life back, is compelling. I’m just not sold on the idea of a cape as a crime-fighting gimmick. Seems like capes have been overused in the genre. If Faraday’s an ex-cop and an ex-soldier they could’ve made him into something like Blade, or the Punisher.

Some of the scenes from the pilot were disjointed maybe becuase of editing and/or writing. Some of the dialogue was too cliche. You could almost predict what they were going to say in certain scenes.

Tarot was much better. No disjointedness, the story flowed better, it even had some lol moments. Fight scenes were pretty intense.

I feel like they initially started with a good idea, bringing the whole superhero thing to TV but I think they have way too many different tones in the show. It’s like they want it to be serious and dramatic and funny at the same time. It just plainly makes the show look silly and campy. Summer was awesome, but she’s not enough to make the show great. The format was kind of weird with the titles, and the story didn’t flow too well. The action scenes were nice but they need to make a few changes to make this show last.

The show needs more Summer!! She is the real talent,her and the circus freaks,they were great.Keith David is great,and the Scales charactor has potential also but the absolute worst writing/acting/design is the STUPID chess charactor!! I really want this show to succeed but I feel it will fail because mainly the Main villian is sooo horrible.Its to bad for Summer Glaus and Keith David.

Love Summer Glau. Glad to see her back on TV.

I found it to really be a let down (I just finally saw it on DVR today!). I am disappointed because 1. I love Summer and really want to see her in a successful vehicle and 2. It is an interesting premise but just not well executed. Maybe it will turn around before they axe it (which can happen all too quickly)
