Emily Maynard and Sean Lowe found love for a small time, and then even found the fantasy suite on The Bachelorette 2012.
The pair started the date off with Sean being the only one of the guys who hadn’t yet said “I love you” to Emily. And that was a big deal for her.
They took a helicopter ride to their very own private island near Curacao. I’ve never heard of that place, but it’s so clearly one of the most beautiful tropical paradises in the world. (And here I thought Bora Bora was the limit!)
Maynard was curious about why Sean’s former girlfriends were such “buddies” to him. This was intel his family had told her. He confessed that at a point he loved his ex, but wasn’t in love with her. Therefore, they became buddy-buddy. Meanwhile, this girlfriend was always talking about marriage. Seems like he was afraid of owning up to the truth, and ultimately it comes across as deceitful.
To the cameras, Sean admitted that he wanted to tell Emily how he loves her.
So, he let Emily know that he felt like things were easy and natural for them. But she countered that sometimes he’s hard to read. He mentioned he was “crazy” for her, but no hint of the L word. Which, clearly, was what she wanted to hear!
Emily told the cameras that she didn’t think Sean “had it in him” to grab a girl and really tell them how he feels.
So. Then it was time to snorkel. Blue water, splashing, la, la, la.
At night, with candles and the crashing waves and everything… the two had a serious talk. Sean had written Rikki a letter, pre-supposing she would be part of his life. Remember, at this point he hasn’t met her. It was an incredibly sweet letter, although I was distracted by seeing how perfect the hand-writing was. Did Sean really write it physically? It was almost feminine print!
Sean said that his family adored Emily, and his family reaffirmed his feelings.
Finally, Sean crept towards the ‘L” word. And I almost thought he was going to propose, instead… which would have been kind of awesome, hijacking the entire format of the show. Anyway, he said, “I have fallen in love with you’ as his face blushed and he kept having nervous ticks (licking lips, fidgeting, etc.)
“Thank you, for like, the perfect day,” Emily said.
Was that the end? Oh no! There was a letter from Chris about the fantasy suite. Sean said, “I would love the chance to stay up and talk and be with you.” And Emily mentioned how she wanted the chance to spend every minute with him. They were obviously skirting the issue of sexy time. And who knows, maybe they really did plan to just talk in secret all night long without cameras. Sean seems so respectful (all three of The Bachelorette 2012 guys seem respectful.)
We saw Emily and Sean parting ways in the night. “I’m a Mom, it just doesn’t line up with what I believe in and the example I want to set for my daughter. I don’t need that extra couple of hours…” Basically, this doesn’t mean they didn’t have sex. Did Emily and Sean sleep together? Who knows. I can’t help but wondering if Emily slept with Brad in the fantasy suite way back when, too. That’s such a complicated deal.
In the end, Sean Lowe did not receive a rose from Emily. He will not be proposing to her. Instead, he returned to Dallas, Texas as a single man.
Too shell shocked to talk much… Sean finally said, “Honestly, when she walked out tonight, in my head, I thought ‘that’s my wife.'” He looked simply devastated by the crushing blow. “I had this beautiful picture of what my life was going to look like… and now it’s gone.”
