The Bachelorette 2012 Recap: Emily Maynard had 9 Creative Introductions to the Men
| May 15, 2012 at 11:20 AM EDTHere you’ll find a recap of the 9 most creative introductions on The Bachelorette 2012 premiere episode with Emily Maynard.
Jef Holm– He came in riding a skateboard! That’s a surefire way to get some attention. And while I, and Emily, may have thought that he could be immature, he proved otherwise. It also looks like he’ll be staying around for a while. One thing I noticed was that he was the one guy who seemed to make Emily nervous. (Not that she wasn’t generally nervous about that night with the swarm of men.) I don’t want to think Emily feels insecure (we got so much of that with The Bachelorette Ashley Hebert) but I liked the idea that someone was making her feel something other than just loved up on because you can’t be sure how genuine everyone is when it’s all positive flattery they give you. That said, Jef does seem like a very young, hip guy, and may not be the right match for a more traditional Southern, single Mom. …I’d like to be proven wrong, though.
Glasses Guy – I totally missed his name, but he wore big black glasses. He said, “I’m a biology teacher. But I’m here to see if we have chemistry.” It was very cheesy, but it was cute and not creepy.
Stevie – This was the guy who came with a boombox, and was dancing around. His job is “Party MC.” I have a feeling he won’t be marrying Emily Maynard.
Tony – Here is the guy who went the fairytale route. And there’s nothing wrong with fairytales – I happen to love Once Upon a Time on ABC. But it was almost too cheesy… well, let me refresh your memory – He had a pillow with a glass slipper on it, and he said his name was “Prince Charming.” Then he slipped the shoe on Emily. He gets major points for creativity, and for making sure the glass slipper was in the right size. Hopefully he doesn’t have any weird foot fetish!
Randy – Ben Flajnik met a Grandma when he was The Bachelor, and Emily did too. Sorta. It… was weird, but somehow cute. Randy was dressed up as a Grandma, then pulled off the disguise. Here’s the thing… instead of trying to commit to this and make it serious, he laughed about it. I actually liked him, despite the dress he wore!
Brent – Not that this was super creative, but it was toned down enough that it wasn’t too big of a risk… he had a name tag that he wore so she could remember him. Sweet.
Travis – Ostrich Egg Travis is a no-go for me, and I hope Emily ends up leaving him behind. He said it was a symbol of Emily and her daughter, and how he’d take care of them. (Which conflicts with the guys who praise Em for her independence, and I can’t help but wonder which compliment she’d rather hear from the guys.) Taking care of an egg is something you do in high school, except now they have robot babies or something. …I guess it’s good he only brought an egg.
Ryan – Here was a sweet guy who had written out notes, which he held up for Emily. They read, “You are so beautiful” and “I am so nervous.” Cute.
Kalon – This is the jerk who came in a helicopter. Case closed. Go away, helicopter luxury jerk faced dude! (If he owns that helicopter then he has no trouble getting dates, and has no business being on the show. Which isn’t fair for me to say… I don’t know. I just did not get a good vibe from him at all.)
