Eliana Girard wielded a dangerous tutu for “Romantic Inclinations”.

Eliana Girard, Daniel Baker, and Chehon Wespi-Tschopp dance ballet choreographed by Desmond Richardson and Dwight Rhoden on So You Think You Can Dance Season 9.

The name of the musical composition had the very cool title of, “Romantic Inclinations / Like a Shot / Fury”. Isn’t that first word pairing such a sweet, pretty phrase? Everyone always loves to think someone has romantic inclinations towards them, don’t they? (Unless it’s the crazy kind like in that Beyonce / Ali Larter movie Obsessed…which was so good even though it was so, so bad…. Is this a tangent? Mhm. But while I have you in this tangled tangent with me, you should also watch Alicia Silverstone in the 90’s cult movie “The Crush”. You’ll hate bee’s so much after seeing it.)

Now, we have to talk about this ballet! Girard lucked out by having a very cool, futuristic, structured tutu. They also put her hair up,making it sleek and sophisticated. But Baker and Wespi-Tschopp were totally out of luck with these silver pants that basically had a lightning bolt image right over the crotch – and no, I am not even kidding. Of course, I was mostly focused on their upper bodies… if you get my drift… cough cough, muscles for days.

Having a strong ending image for a dance is important of course, but I really (even more than usual) want to gobble up the amazing image at the end of this ballet.

Sidenote: Breaking Pointe is on The CW tonight, and Allison DeBona wouldn’t be happy unless I mentioned that! I highly recommend watching.

Sidenote 2: Dear Eliana Girard, those long peacock feather earrings are bad and you cannot wear them ever again. I am very sorry, but that’s just the facts. (The Blue Suede Booties can stay, duh.) Also, you look like that actress from Friday Night Lights – uh, Madison Burge, there we go! Anyway, you’re a doll. xo – Jessica Rae

What I liked about this dance is that it wasn’t too refined or prissy, instead the choreographers took chances to make it more contemporary. It was … gritty but graceful.
