After Wednesday night’s 8 fantastic performances full of pianos, zombies and lots and lots of kissing, last night it was time to say goodbye to two more dancers on So You Think You Can Dance 2011. As Cat says, “Thursdays suck.”

The opening group number was sort of blah for me. I loved the music choice- the end credits music (cleverly titled, Incredits) from The Incredibles. The choreographer was Michael Rooney. I don’t know if we’ve seen him before… anyone? I just felt that the music sort of out performed the dancers if that makes sense. Anyway, not great… moving on.
Before we get to the elimination – how beautiful and moving was the AXIS piece? I mean sure, we watch Artie dance in a wheelchair on Glee every week, but Kevin McHale can get up and dance all on his own. This was something that goes way beyond that. Truly amazing. I hope you all had a chance to see it. And the couple who danced while the judges deliberated – holy crap. Watched i with my daughter who the entire time just kept yelling, “What? WHAT??” She was impressed.
Okay, let’s get to the bottom three couples:
Ashley & Chris
Miranda & Robert
Caitlynn & Mitchell
Once again, I’m 2 for 3. Darn that elusive 3rd couple I can never manage to guess correctly! But really, who would have picked Caitlynn & Mitchell? They danced that samba so well and as far as I can tell, the audience really seems to enjoy them. But someone had to be in the bottom 3…
Based on solos, Ashley should have gone home. Heck, based on solos AND last night’s performances, Ashley should have gone home. Yet, in a non-unanimous decision, Miranda was sent home after the endless praise last night and a very strong solo. I honestly do not get it. At all. No amount of explanation (or lack thereof, for that matter) from an obviously upset Nigel is going to make it make sense to me, so let’s move on. For the guys, Mitchell did great and used “Rolling in the Deep” for his solo music, he was not in danger of going home. Chris and Robert had solos that were, to quote Randy Jackson, “just okay for me, dawg.” Honestly, it was a toss up and I think it just came down to the fact that Chris has shown a lot more promise, especially based on the jail routine last week. (Btw – when Nigel said the judges were unanimous, did you notice Robert started nodding, as if he knew it was him?)
So, goodbye Miranda and Robert. We will miss you. One last time for Robert – WOOOOOO!
Alright, time to get ready for next week!
