Snooki Denied Name Trademark Because of a Cat

Snooki of The Jersey Shore tried to trademark her name, just as “The Situation” did earlier this month. But she was denied.

The name Snooki is already registered! Well, Snooky is registered. A 2004 children’s book named Adventures of Snooky already has that title. Snooky is a cat.

Popcrunch: ‘The terms SNOOKY and SNOOKI are very similar,’ the US Patent and Trademark Office wrote in its trademark refusal, obtained by TheSmokingGun.com. ‘Therefore, given the similarity of marks and identity of goods, there is a likelihood of confusion.’

Well, okay then.
