Simon Cowell Leaving ‘American Idol’

Just as American Idol is ready to premiere on Fox for its 9th season (and Ellen DeGeneres joined as a judge, so I might actually watch) there is news that Simon Cowell will be leaving the show when his contract is up in 2010. The report comes from Britain’s The Sun.
Paula Abdul’s leaving, that other chick joined, Ellen is there…all of this changing of judges is odd. The show is popular, why would you want to leave?

Paula Abdul was the only reason to watch that show. With her gone, its a snoozefest that I will not be tuning into! And Simon clearly agrees with me. You can champion Ellen all you want- guess what- the core Idol fans disagree with you! we dont care about this show anymore, not without Paula! And we want Simon off it and onto American X factor- with Paula.

Really? This is your “scoop”?
He is leaving because he is bringing X-Factor, a show he developed and judges in Britain, to the US.

I will confess that AI is getting a little tiresome but I still like it because it is an “easy” watch for my family.

Amanda – I like what you say about “easy watch”. I feel that way about some shows, and that’s why I keep them in my TV rotation. Or sometimes I’ll just randomly watch something that’s fluffy and I don’t have to worry about (like “The Girls Next Door”).
