The X Factor 2013 Auditions Episode 3 Recap: A Familiar Face Steals The Show| September 19, 2013 at 3:00 AM EST
The X Factor 2013 auditions continued Wednesday night and the episode came to a close with a returning contestant and fan favorite that was cut last year. Read about his audition and other stand-outs (both good and bad) below.
Shirley and Cynthia. This sister act was not the way to kick off the episode. One of the sisters wasn’t that bad, but the other was terrible. And she’s the one that did most of the singing. Never mind. They were both awful. Needless to say, they don’t move on.
Josh Levi. This kid has charisma. And in turn, great stage-presence. He’s also got a nice smooth little voice. I can see this kid going very far in this contest. He gets three yeses (Paulina is absent) and goes on to the next round.
Drama Drama. A group of five girls, and not one of then were good. I think they may have formed the group 13 minutes before the audition.
Aknu. Finally, a legitimate group. The three brothers are just what they called themselves, classic. They’ve got classic voices, classic moves, but they still feel fresh and young. Nothing about their performance felt old-fashioned. They’re basically awesome. They get three easy yeses and move on to the next round.
Brandie Love. She’s a little rough around the edges, but the emotion she poured into her audition made up for any rough spots in her performance. Maybe those were just nerves. Anyway, she’s got a great voice, a great presence and seems really sweet and genuine. She gets four yeses (Paulina is back), so she moves on to the next round.
Carlos Guevara. He’s got a great voice. It’s nice and gargly and he’s got great control over it. Depsite not having control over everything he says or does with his Tourette’s Syndrome. He gets four yeses and moves on to the next round.
Colton Pack. The country boy from West Virginia got an awful lot of airtime, but I didn’t really see why. I thought he was fine, but nothing to really go crazy over. I think I agree more with Demi on this guy, but the rest were really into him. So he’s on to the next round.
Jeff Gutt. Jeff was cut last season and has returned for another shot this year. I liked him last season, but his initial audition this season was awful. At least with the song he chose. So Simon asks him for another song. So when he pulled out “Creep” by Radiohead, it went so much better. It was powerful and emotional and stole the show. And he got his second chance with four yeses.
