The Voice 2013 — Matthew Schuler on Elimination: ‘This Isn’t The End’| December 5, 2013 at 9:00 AM EDT
The Voice 2013 Top 6 became the Top 5 this week when Team Christina’s Matthew Schuler was eliminated. Matthew stood next to Team Adam’s James Wolpert in the bottom two, but America gave the Instant Save to James.
After his elimination, Matthew stopped to talk to reporters and bloggers about what Christina’s parting words were, what’s next for him and how it was meeting Kelly Clarkson.
“Well the first thing she said was, ‘First off, enjoy your holiday,’” he said. “I’m definitely going to enjoy it with my family because they’ve supported me through this crazy time. Not just my immediate family, but all my aunts, uncles and cousins back home, they’ve seriously held me down so I want to see them and give them some love. But yeah, she reassured me saying this isn’t the end, this is the beginning and I’m excited to keep this momentum running and just go with it. I want to see who’s interested in hearing what I have to say about my music.”
“She is such an encouragement because she’s the one who paved the way for us. She wasn’t like the first one because that was ‘Star Search,’ but Kelly has had a flourishing career and it’s encouraging to see her and give her a hug. I saw her from afar for my whole life and I watched ‘American Idol’ and thought maybe one day I could be on one of those shows, then ‘The Voice’ comes out and I fell in love with it. I tried out and good things happened so I am very grateful to her for lighting that spark.”
