The Voice 2013 Battle Rounds Part 1 Live Recap: Teammates Go Head-To-Head| October 14, 2013 at 7:55 PM EST
The Voice 2013 Battle Rounds start tonight and we’ll be seeing two team members at a time going head-to-head for a shot in the Knockout Rounds, which puts them one step closer to the live shows.
We’ll also get to see this season’s advisers pitching in to help the coaches out. And let’s not forget the steal goes into play tonight. If a coach cuts an artist another coach wants, they can attempt a steal.
We’ll be recapping the Battle Rounds for you live, so be sure to follow along with us and let us know your thoughts in our comments section below.
Team Adam’s Grey vs. Nic Hawk, “Domino.” Well, I’m not feeling this song for Nic. It sounds a little unfair to him, but we’ll see how this goes. It’s actually a pretty even battle. The fact that she has the advantage and he’s matching her every move say a lot more about him than her. So what was her advantage was his challenge. So him handling it gives him the edge in my book.
- My Winner: Nic
- Adam’s Winner: Grey
- The Steal: Used. Blake steals Nic
Team Christina’s Amber Nicole vs. Timyra-Joi, “Listen.” I’m a big fan of this song on singing competition shows. It’s a big song and if a contestant pulls it off, then you know you’ve got a good one on your hands. And its intensity is a perfect battle song. Good job, Xtina. So let’s see how this one goes. I think Amber is slaying this song. And Timyra-Joi is doing an amazing job too. So for Amber to stand out more than Amber is insane. This is definitely a tough one. I hope the one that gets cut gets saved. That was a pretty awesome battle.
- My Winner: Amber
- Christina’s Winner: Amber
- The Steal: Not used. Timyra-Joi is out of the contest.
Team Blake’s Justin Chain vs. Shelbie Z., “Don’t You Wanna Stay.” This battle isn’t looking so get in the rehearsals. Let’s hope it improves during the actual battle. It did. I’m improved a lot. They sound great together. It’s not exactly come off as a battle, though, but more of a perfected duet. He’s got a tender voice and she’s got a big powerful voice. They’re a great pair. I’m not sure who actually sang it better, though. This is another tough one. I think I like hearing him sing just a little more than her.
- My Winner: Justin
- Blake’s Winner: Shelbie
- The Steal: Not used. Justin is out of the contest. Mistake.
Team Cee Lo’s Anthony Paul vs. Caroline Pennell, “As Long As You Love Me.” Well, I hate the song choice. And I HATE Caroline’s voice, so this is going to be a painful battle for me. And yeah, I hated it. I think he’s got a good voice and would be better suited with a different song. As for her, I don’t want to hear her sing anything.
- My Winner: Anthony
- Cee Lo’s Winner: Caroline
- The Steal: Used. Christina steals Anthony!
Team Adam’s Donna Allen vs. Tessanne Chin, “Next To Me.” This is a powerful song for two powerful singers. So this should again feel like an actual battle. This is a great battle, but I’m oddly bored by it. I can’t explain why. Maybe it’s because there was nothing surprising about it. I do think Donna is a little more polished than Tessanne, though.
- My Winner: Donna
- Adam’s Winner: Tessanne
- The Steal: Not sued. Donna heads home.
Team Christina’s Briana Cuoco vs. Jacquie Lee, “House of the Rising Sun.” Good song choice. I think this will be an interesting battle. That was a legit battle. They were both coming at each other with more and more, while having a lot of fun. I think Briana is the more solid singer. But maybe Jacquie is more marketable. Tough call.
- My Winner: Briana
- Christina’s Winner: Jacquie
- The Steal: Blake and Cee Lo both want Briana. She goes with Blake.
