Sons Of Anarchy Adds a Series Regular for Season 7| January 8, 2014 at 2:38 PM EST
The Big Huge Death in the finale of Season 6 of Sons of Anarchy left a hole in the series leading into Season 7. But that space has already been filled with a cast member that’s been recurring since the start.
I hope rehab stuck, honey. Because you’re going to need to be on your game if you are going to be a regular in this world, Wendy.
That’s right kids, Wendy (Drea de Matteo) is back, and she’s staying! My feelings have gone up and down with this character over the past 6 seasons. Sometimes she is infuriating and somethings she is sympathetic. But she never brings a lack of drama, so that is good.
SPOILER ALERT for those who have not finished Season 6. (And not to be judgey and all, but why the hell haven’t you? What are you waiting for? Your anti-depressant prescription to come in? Oh okay. That’s valid.)
With the loss of Maggie Siff’s Tara, a big space is left in the life of Jax, Abel, and Thomas. How will Wendy fill that void? For the boys, she is an easily-manipulated-by-Gemma replacement. But will a fresh out of rehab mom, and a probably spiraling grandmother be their best caretakers? For Jax… well, frankly I stand by the idea that he is going to die by the end of the series and having a new love in his life in unnecessary and I think would kind of crap all over the beautiful final Jax/Tara moments we got in the Season 6 finale. But Jax has shown he needs the support of someone to find his way as leader of the club.
What part do you think Wendy will play? Willing participant in club business? Someone who fights against it? Someone who continues to ride somewhere between the two like Tara? And are you excited to get de Matteo as a full-time star of the show?
