‘Shahs of Sunset’ Season 3 , Episode 12 “Return to the Homeland Part 2”

Bend over, I have something for you

We picked back up in Turkey. As if you could forget!

They were going on a boat, which was a problem for Reza and his motion sickness. So, there was something …a thing (suppository), that goes up the behind. And apparently that helps? Reza was even going to do it FOR GG. Now…that’s friendship. Maybe more friendship than I ever want.

“Putting something in her butt isn’t as alarming to me as it should.”- Reza, about GG

“There is one side on my rear. And that is an exit sign.” – GG

“Thank god we put those things up our butts.” – GG

Yacht Today, Iran Tomorrow (And all the fights are OVER*)

Asa has great news. They can roll to the border of Iran. Asa and her Mother are political refugees, so they can never step actual feet back in Iran. And Reza, as a gay man, can also never go back. So, the pilgrimage to the homeland was exciting news.

I felt jealous that I wasn’t on a yacht as I saw them set sale, in glamorous chiffon robes with a large spread of fruit and cheese and such. Why is this not my life? The waters were rough, and the champagne was flowing.

MJ finally forgives Mike for the chocolate croissant incident. They agreed that they’re like siblings who fight.

“She’s uh, insane. But she’s my sister.” – Mike

“Should I name my boobs? They should be named.” – MJ

And for as shallow and petty as this group sometimes is, you can see tht they are at least genuinely happy to smile in the sun and be together. I know, I know…I’m getting soft.

*For this season, at least. Gee, it’s almost like it’s SCRIPTED. Cough.

The Veil

The veil. It’s controversial. Reza was freaking out about the black veils. He didn’t like it symbolically, or in any way. He said it separates people. (And I have to agree.) But Asa and GG disagree, and didn’t like that Reza couldn’t appreciate it.

If you are curious, this ABC story explains reasons for wearing the veil.

The Iranian Border

“I want to go to literally feel the air, smell the earth…” – Asa

MJ was not invited. I’m unclear on this. She seemed to imply that she couldn’t go to Iran, either…but couldn’t be invited on the trip anyway.

Reza and Asa got so excited when they saw just the SIGN for Iran. These are deep wounds that are painful…and it must be complicated to love a country that you can’t go back to, and also know that if you tried to…you’d be arrested, tortured, and possibly killed (according to Asa.)

The tour guide explains why they can’t get too close to the border, “Because you are Americans, and Iranians don’t like Americans.” Meanwhile, they see the towers full of snipers who are “watching all the time.”

“Our lives were in danger every step of the way.” – Reza

“When you face the wound…the monster kind of slips away.” – Asa

MJ the Mom

Having a moment, MJ got vulnerable and realized how much she wants a future with a family and children. She thinks Asa can have that, but not her. Feeling unlovable and wanting so much must make her feel a bit hopeless. Here’s to hoping MJ can fall in love, and she doesn’t have to suffer for just having dogs as kids, if she still wants children when she returns to America.
