Revenge Recap “Union” – We’re all in this together…
| February 11, 2013 at 5:21 PM ESTJust as all the secrets and lies have been threatening to pull people apart, “Union” lives up to its namesake to bring our friends and enemies back together again.
Emily and Amanda
The relationship between Emily (Emily VanCamp) and Amanda (Margarita Levieva) has always been a bit of a rollercoaster. Amanda tells Emily that she went to Conrad (Henry Czerny) for help when the Ryans framed Jack (Nick Wechsler) for murder and drug trafficking, and as part of the deal, Conrad bought out the Ryans’ share in the Stowaway. Jack hadn’t wanted to become indebted to his friends until Amanda asks: “You’d rather be in debt to your enemies?”
Emily and Aiden
When we last saw Aiden (Barry Sloane), he was none too impressed with Emily and blames her for his sister’s death. But with the help of Nolan (Gabriel Mann), they realize the video of Colleen’s death was actually shot six years ago, and not as a result of Aiden not going through with the assassination of Victoria (Madeleine). Emily then joins Aiden at the Coroner’s office, finding clear evidence of a Jane Doe matching Colleen’s description, and they even go together to the cemetery where the unidentified bodies are buried. As Aiden realizes all the training he has undertaken to save his sister is now fruitless, Emily tearfully asks him not to leave her alone – that they can still take down the Initiative for what they have done to their families. And in the end, this brings them closer together than ever before.
Nolan and Padma
Nolan has been trying to keep Padma (Dilshad Vadsaria) at a distance since he discovered she’s been after his Carrion program. Unable to keep his feelings for her in check, he confronts her about her father to find out why she has been lying to him. Knowing that his office is bugged, they take a walk outside and she confides that the Initiative has kidnapped her father while on a business trip and blackmails her to get hold of Carrion. Nolan tells her she has an incomplete version of the program. Meanwhile, he is still uncertain what to do next now that he knows the truth. I hope there will be plenty of duplicity to come and Nolan can turn the tables on the Initiative and get Padma’s father back (and then Nolma – or Padlan?) can live happily ever after.
Amanda and Jack
When they were kids, Amanda and Jack had a beach wedding, officiated by her father David (James Tupper) and witnessed by Sammy (who was just a pup back then). Now all grown up, Jack finally marries the love of his life, though not the same Amanda, with the real Amanda (aka Emily) serving as bridesmaid and brother Declan (Connor Paolo) as best man. In David’s place is Nolan officiating the wedding, while half-sister, Charlotte (Christa B. Allen) watches on, being every bit the doting aunt to baby Carl. The wedding vows bring everyone to tears, including Emily, who stands by and watches as her childhood love marries a fake version of herself. As the newlyweds sail off into the sunset on The Amanda, you just know that something bad is going to happen. After all, remember how the season started, with The Amanda at the bottom of the ocean and a corpse?
Conrad and Nate Ryan
Always the opportunist, Conrad makes a deal with Nate (Michael Trucco) to use his share in the Stowaway Tavern as the starting point to redevelop the waterfront where the bar is located. All appears to be going well as Nate takes Conrad and his new BFF Ashley (Ashley Madekwe) on a stroll in Montauk imagining what their redevelopment would look like until Amanda turns up in Conrad’s office, armed with Emily’s laptop with evidence of all the crimes he has committed, threatening to expose him if he doesn’t reneg on his deal with Nate and sells his share in the bar back to Jack. Of course, Emily has no knowledge of this, and one can only expect that no good can ever come of this.
Daniel and Victoria
Despite their differences, Daniel (Josh Bowman) is finally forced to accept that Helen Crowley (Wendy Crewson) and The Initiative are setting him up to take the fall for something big. Victoria confesses to him that The Initiative made her and Conrad frame David Clarke for the downing of Flight 197 nearly twenty years ago (turns out Aiden’s father was the baggage handler at Heathrow who put the bomb on the plane). Unfortunately for Victoria and Daniel, it never occurred to them that Daniel’s office may be bugged and Helen watches every moment of this maternal confession. And so it doesn’t take long for Helen to turn up at Grayson Manor demanding Victoria hands over all the evidence. Victoria tells Helen it’s kept in the safe in the pool house and next thing you know, Victoria whips out a gun she has hidden behind some pillows and shoots Helen right in the chest. One shot is all it takes and what a fine shot it is. Could this be the act that finally brings Daniel, Conrad and Victoria closer together?
