Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) lives in a “tiny” beach house, in comparison to the Grayson Manor that overlooks her residence. The exteriors for the house are from North Carolina. And isn’t it beautiful?

A porch wraps itself almost entirely around the house, with a long set of wide white porch steps that lead down to the front of the house. The front doors are double doors, and painted red. But most everyone finds Emily entering and exiting via a door on the side/back of her house. This is the beach front view, and it has two very memorable landmarks: a carving of the double infinity, and a porch swing that her Dad made and when Jack moved into a better place.

It’s very shabby chic inside. Lydia (or her decorating) did all of the decorating inside of the house and has been kept as-is when Emily moved inside the place.

There’s a lot of dark woodwork for the staircase, but then a lot of white molding around the house to compliment the toned down, almost mint-colored walls. Structurally, there are also some beams.

It beach house has a very lived-in look. Some furniture is painted white and then sandblasted to give a worn feel. White wooden lamps with floral lampshades and glass vases with white flowers are anchored on various tables. White sheers over the windows give that extra bit of privacy that Emily needs from Mrs. Grayson, while keeping everything airy. It’s very coastal chic, as Horchow puts it.
