Here’s how we play this PLL game. In bold, is the text released by ABC Family. And below that? An interpretation of what they’re really saying, and what to expect. We courage you to play along by commenting with your thoughts.

Coming up on the second anniversary of Alison’s disappearance, Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer are thrown back into turmoil after one shocking night in “It Happened ‘That Night’,” the season three premiere of ABC Family’s hit original series “Pretty Little Liars,” premiering Tuesday, June 5th (8:00 – 9:00 PM ET/PT).

I say KUDOS to Pretty Little Liars for finding ways of stretching out two seasons to equal one year. I mean it. I wish more shows could have done this. Which, they could have. They just weren’t smart enough. (See: Every TV show that had their kids graduate and go to college.) Even though we’ve had two seasons, that’s just one year since we learned that Alison is dead. And the girls are basically more obsessed with Alison than ever. Why did they give up therapy, again? Oh yea… the whole kidnapping thing. Well, that’ll put a damper on anything.

Fans can prepare for the return to Rosewood in an all-day marathon starting at 11:00 AM (ET/PT) and running up to the one-hour season premiere at 8:00 PM (ET/PT).

I also don’t fault ABC Family for doing a marathon. Yes, it’s a blatant tactic to get you starring at their channel all day, but when a show is good… why not? I happen to adore TV show marathons. That said, if you don’t take a break somewhere between 11:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. to shower and eat? Then we have problems.

A summer has passed since Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer found out about Mona being “A” and Maya’s death.

So, they’re skipping summer and going back to school already? Metaphor for how real summers feel, or what? When I was in high school I would dread the month of August because I realized summer was basally already over for me. Especially if I hadn’t read the required reading yet. (Which, even though I love reading, I never had. …They assigned horrible books!)

With the terror seemingly over and an alleged murderer now behind bars, the town of Rosewood is slowly healing from old and new wounds and trying to get back to normalcy.

The terror is always seemingly over? It never is. That’s like assuming the serial killer in a murder movie is dead after the first beheading. That’s never true! How do you think they managed to make 15 Halloween’s?! Bad guys never die. They always have back-up’s, anyway.

Each of the four girls spent their summer in different ways – Aria taking a photography class, Spencer taking college courses at Hollis, Hanna taking cooking classes with Caleb and Emily building houses in Haiti.

Great. I suddenly feel like I’ve done nothing. You guys know that most of us will be doing nothing but working and watching TV shows. But I’m proud of them for all… well, it’s very Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants of them, isn’t it? Except I doubt they mailed a pair of magical jeans all around.

But what looks normal for each girl is not necessarily so, as all four are hardly over what happened. With post-traumatic stress, anger and the acquisition of more secrets the four Liars are anything but fine. Now all back together and coming upon the second anniversary of Alison’s disappearance, the girls find themselves back on the defensive when a shocking event rocks Rosewood.

The time is ripe for the girls to explode! Stakes are higher, yadda, yadda.
