Pretty Little Liars Season 3 Fashion Recap – “Blood is the New Black”
| June 13, 2012 at 10:07 AM EDTYou can bet that necklaces made with teeth and letter beads won’t become a new trend. But there was lots of great Pretty Little Liars fashion moments in “Blood is the new Black.”
Mona (Janel Parrish)
Janel Parrish gets serious credit for being the deranged, (mostly) silent Mona who still manages to make a hospital mumu look stylish. See, we can sell it as a minimalistic look! Just don’t ask us about what the smell of a hospital like that would be…
Hanna Marin (Ashley Benson)
I personally miss when Hanna was more into the girly side of things. She’s taken a turn for bold, geometric clothing, and I think she’s having a lot of tribal moments on the screen. I actually ended up liking her look (pictured above) with the pink pants and the black/white top. We do have to talk about those long turquoise and white earrings…however. See, I don’t know how anyone could really wear them because… wouldn’t you be terrified that someone would yank on them?! For the screen, I think they were a great choice by Mandi Line. And they’re definitely bold. But I can’t say that I love them… I wish they were shorter.
Her structural blue snakeskin print top was TRES cool. (Pictured below.) And her belted yellow shirt was awesome. Also, what about that minimalilstic, strapless, blue and yellow colorblock dress? That was very chic, fun and fresh.
Aria Montgomery (Lucy Hale)
I’ve warmed up to her latest haircut (it’s like a grown-out version of “The Rachel”), and I was all over her outfit with the green skirt and belted hot pink, flared top. Those necklaces on her with that outfit were AMAZING.
Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell)
Because the other characters have so much going on in scenes, Emily is really the palette cleanser. As such, she often has very plain (pretty, but…) not incredibly memorable outfits. I like that she’s transitioning from mostly athletic wear to more bohemian, loose-fitting tops.
Spencer Hastings (Troian Bellisario)
At one point, she was wearing a navy and white sailor dress that was almost too close to looking like a costume. While this is probably true of all of these actresses, I find that Troian can wear such a simple top and still look luminous with her her fair complexion and tousled hair.
