Plain Jane is a new series coming to The CW this summer. It’s a reality show that reminds me a bit of What Not to Wear.

In the show, a plain Jane girl gets a Fairy Godmother of her own to help transform her look and get style tip that will work for her. Louise Roe plays the Fairy Godmother and Host of the show. More than just a makeover series, this is also a dating series. What’s better than going out on a date or admitting your crush on your dream boy after you’ve been made over, right?

In each episode, the Plain Jane will get guidance by Roe and some dating experts and stylists, as she prepares for a date with her dream guy. Because this seems more like a noontime “nothing else is on” show, it’s a good fit for summer nights. But even still, I doubt this will make it into my TV rotation. As much as i love seeing new haircuts and new outfits picked out, this seems painful. You shouldn’t change anyone to be something far too different than what they are.
