Notes on November Sweeps (2009)

November sweeps is a couple of weeks during this month where the networks compete to see who can get the highest ratings. It’s a popularity contest! But it’s important. And we get to see if the shows are making good choices or dumb ones.

As far as Heroes, it was no secret that the episode with guest star Elizabeth Rohm (Angel the Series) and Jayma Mays was planned during sweeps. In fact, more than important storylines – it’s guest stars who really are featured prominently during sweeps. You’ll see Lady Gaga on Gossip Girl, Sarah Palin on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Heather Locklear on Melrose Place and so many more.
