You can’t make this stuff up. A “Tales from the Crypt” retread called “Nite Tales” (I love that they spell it N-I-T-E) premieres tonight on WGN America and is hosted by the biggest weirdo himself, Flavor Flav. The show is definitely late-night, as it runs at 3:00 am EST/midnight PST, and it is scheduled for a FORTY EPISODE run.
From the press release:
Hosted by rapper and television star Flavor Flav, “Nite Tales” is a thrilling recount of tales from beyond the grave, with a hip, urban twist. Hilarity and eeriness combine to bring the viewer to the edge of their seat, with a surprise twist ending in each self-contained episode. The premiere of “Nite Tales” features Chicago comedians DeRay Davis (Babershop, Barbershop 2) and Rodney Perry. Upcoming episodes will star some of television’s most familiar faces including Ray J, Charlie Murphy, Danny Glover, Gary Busey, Brigitte Nielsen and Essence Atkins.
[Ed’s note: One of these is not like the others, one of these things just does not belong…]
“These are the first of 40 episodes we’ve signed on to do,” said show creator Deon Taylor. “They’re fun and quirky and people will love seeing their favorite stars in a new light. Previous audiences had Alfred Hitchcock, Rod Serling, and ‘Tales from the Crypt’ but this generation has never had a televised suspense anthology to call its own.”
