Neil Patrick Harris to host the 61st annual Emmy Awards

Neil Patrick Harris, star of CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother,” has been tapped to host this year’s Emmy broadcast on CBS in September. The choice is no surprise, as Harris was praised all around for his hosting of this year’s Tony Awards last month. Video of Harris at the Tonys is below.

Harris is a two-time Emmy nominee for his work as Barney Stinson on the great sitcom “How I Met Your Mother.” If you aren’t watching it, you should be. It’s a fantastic show and Harris is definitely the highlight. He had this to say about hosting the Emmys, “After having had such a hoot hosting the Tonys, I was thrilled to get the call about the Primetime Emmys. I’m looking forward to the challenge of the show — adding my own voice to it, while honoring the nominees and the entire year in television. But which voice to choose? I’m torn between gangsta, foppish Brit and robot. Really proud of my robot. We’ll see what happens on the night.”

Emmy nominations will be announced this coming Thursday, July 16th.
