Inside: Get the skinny on the Miss America 2013 Contestants, Judges, and prizes!

To promote Miss American 2013, 20/20 aired a special Pageant Confidential piece. They put the spotlight on a few different girls while talking about the training, dieting and intense work that happens in the months before showing at the Miss America competition. We took note of the trivia they offered.

Miss America 2013 Trivia

  • A bombshell bra under a bikini is a “secret weapon” for some girls.
  • Allyn Rose (Miss D.C.) will have a double mastectomy after the competition, and roller skates for her talent.
  • Lexie Madden (Miss Wyoming 2013) shows goats and plays the piano for her talent.
  • Ali Rogers (Miss South Carolina) is one of the contestants that follows a strict diet. With three months to the Miss American competition, she wanted to loose about 7 more lbs.
  • Laura McKeeman (Miss Florida) admits her butt is flat, so she’s been training specifically to change that.
  • Molly Bouchard (Miss Maine) lost over 50 lbs before winning her state. She says she’s probably the only girl there who doesn’t have a spray tan.
  • Some states like South Carolina have lots of sponsors for pageant girls, whereas Wyoming does not.
  • Many contestants use hair extensions.
  • Miss Iowa has a name that’s famous: Mariah Cary.
  • There are 53 contestants, which includes women from the District of Columbia (Washington D.C.), the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
  • The big prize is a $50,000 scholarship and the Miss America title.
  • Miss Puerto Rico, Kiaraliz Medina had an injury. But she is still in the competition.
