She once had a pretty strained relationship with “American Idol,” but now season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson is back to guest-judge. She will be accompanied by Joe Jonas of the heartthrob teen group the Jonas Brothers.
Jonas and Clarkson are both currently on tour but apparently will find some time to squeeze in a little judging for “American Idol” now that Paula Abdul has departed. They join the list of guest-judges left in Abdul’s wake that already includes Posh Spice/Victoria Beckham, Mary J. Blige, Shania Twain and an as-of-yet-unscheduled Katy Perry.
I’ve said for years that they should bring back former Idols to mentor the kids once they reach the Top 24. I guess this is better than nothing. But I really think particularly Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and David Cook would make excellent mentors for “American Idol.”
