Katie Stevens on American Idol Looked the Part but Failed to Deliver the Vocals

If only Katie Stevens was less…how she is. Her voice is decent, but not great. But she’s corned the market on the young teenage girls who want to see her in the competition because they can relate to her the most and see her as the real life extension of themselves. She’s the elevator music on the show – the easy to swallow, predictable contestant with very little substance to offer. If she had the voice of Taylor Swift (or at least the personality) she would be great. But she doesn’t. She is forgettable.

Katie performed “Wild Horses” last night, and the song arrangement was off-putting. But she looked perfect. Her hair was shiny, her makeup was great, her flower necklace was whimsical and her poofy dress was highly covetable. The images of her performing were great. But with sound, it makes  me cringe.
