It might be tough to realize that your kids only know about Josie and the Pussycats from its 2001 movie incarnation with Rachel Leigh Cook, Rosario Dawson, Tara Reid, Parker Posey and Alan Cumming. So get ready to have those darn kids edu-ma-cated!

Before the movie, there was a spin-off show (Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space – because cats in space are just more fun?) and then the original show (which had only a 16-episode run on CBS.) And before either of those shows the Dan DeCarlo Josie and the Pussycats comics… but we’re not going back quite that far!

To educate our children, Cartoon Network will now be airing Josie and the Pussycats this July on Boomerang – their commercial-free classic cartoon home. Look for this to begin on July 3rd, and then every Saturday and Sunday in July from 2-4 p.m.

“Summer is a time for families to relax and have fun,” said Stacy Isenhower, senior vice president of programming and scheduling for Boomerang and Cartoon Network. “Josie on Boomeroyalty gives viewers of all ages a chance to escape and enjoy the music.”

Josie and the Pussycats combined fun and humorous plot elements, resulting in a series that was full of mystery, adventure, bad guys and of course, music. The Pussycats would travel to exotic locales for gigs, finding themselves in the middle of diabolical plans for world domination at the hands of evil villains. And in each episode when the Pussycats gave chase, the scene would be set to an original song that was recorded for a Capitol Records release.

Boomeroyalty episodes of Josie and the Pussycats will include these memorable ones:
