The best part about the internet (besides YouTube video’s of sneezing pandas) is that you can connect easily with fans who love the same things you do. I was amped when I started talking with uber Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) fan, Stacey. I was then doubly amped when I realized she was one of the people who runs the Jim Parsons fansite: JimParsons.net.
While I’ve watched The Big Bang Theory since it first aired on CBS (and I was dubious about how long it would stay on the air!), I still haven’t given Jim Parsons enough of my time. And yes, he demands my time and attention! Because I was so curious about finding and seeing the best Jim Parsons pictures that are around so far, I asked Stacy to share with me (and all of the Small Screen Scoop readers) her top five favorite pictures of Jim Parsons. As if that wasn’t enough, I also pushed her to answer a few questions about JimParsons.net!
Throughout this piece I’ve included Stacy’s top five pictures of Jim Parsons. I dare you not to feel enamored.
Name & Years Spent Loving Jim Parsons thus far?:
Stacey. I’ve been a fan of Jim Parsons since I started watching ‘The Big Bang Theory’ when it first aired. Over this time, the show has gotten better and better and my love has grown and grown, and I’ve certainly come to appreciate the talents of Jim Parsons in his role as Sheldon over that time.
When did you start JimParsons.net?:
JimParsons.net was launched officially on 20th September 2009, but it was being compiled well before that. My co-webmistress and I initially bonded over the disbelief that Jim didn’t have a fansite of his own online, and decided to remedy that.
What sort of daily/weekly tasks go into maintaining the site? (I.E. Just how busy is this guy now that he’s in high demand?):
The amount of work depends on numerous things, and how comprehensive you want the site to be. Currently, while ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is on air it means that there are usually screencaps and episode stills and promos to post, as well as any other news relating to the show. Obviously on top of that there are any additional things that Jim is currently doing, such as attending events, press interviews, candids, tv appearances, etc. Obviously due to the popularity of the show, and Jim’s recent Emmy nomination there has been a lot to keep on top of. And of course, there are always archives to work on including any past TV/film work, and trying to fill in any gaps that may need working on. We want to make it the ultimate resource for Jim on the web.
I’m sure it’s impossible, but can you name just ONE of your favorite episodes of The Big Bang Theory?:
Tough question! My go-to episode would probably be ‘The Panty Piñata Polarization’; I love the escalation of war between Penny and Sheldon. Probably second on the list would be ‘The Work Song Nanocluster’, but for the way Penny and Sheldon end up working together.
Penny and Sheldon as a couple, some fans say it NEEDS to happen. Are you for or against this?
Personally, I’m for. I find the interaction between these two characters fascinating and fun, and they really bring a lot of hilarity to any of their scenes together. There are a million reasons I could name, but I don’t want to launch into an essay. I’ll leave it at saying that I love the way they challenge each other, amongst other things. Certainly I can appreciate that it isn’t something for everyone, but I for one, really enjoy their chemistry on screen and hope to see both characters evolve to the point where it could be an option down the line.
If you ever met Jim, what is the one question you’d hate yourself for not asking?:
To be honest, I don’t really know! I guess I’ve always been fascinated by the amount of awareness actors possess about online fandom regarding both their show, and themselves. I would also been really curious to know what sort of other projects outside ‘The Big Bang Theory’ he would be interested in involving himself in in the future.
We won’t tell Parsons, but what other TV actors do you enjoy?:
I love TV so there are a lot of shows and actors I am enjoying at the moment: Simon Baker from ‘The Mentalist’, Zachary Levi from ‘Chuck’, as well as David Tennant’s ‘Doctor Who’ and the boys from ‘Flight of the Conchords’. I’ve just started watching ‘How I Met Your Mother’ and Neil Patrick Harris is hilarious as Barney!
(Editor’s note: Levi, Tennant and Harris are also some of my favorite funny guys. Talk about good taste!)
And now for the best part, five of your all-time favorite photos of Jim Parsons!
Very hard to pick just five, and even then there were many many favourites. That said, these are *some* of my favourites that I managed to narrow down. Enjoy! (Editor’s note: Or scroll up and enjoy them all again!)
A big thanks to Stacey for taking the time to share a little of her world with us. A world with Jim Parsons is a world we like!
