I heard it straight from Felicia Day’s mouth – – er, Twitter! Popular streaming video site Hulu will start charging you to watch the site in 2010. Hulu is supposed to be free, and ad-sponsored, but they now say that come 2010 they will charge you a subscription fee! Very unfair. Very uncool. Very…better not happen!
You can read about this on EW: Hulu to Charge
The important bits are:
At an industry summit in NYC on Oct. 21, News Corp Deputy Chairman Chase Carey revealed that online video hub Hulu will begin charging users for content as soon as 2010..
“I think a free model is a very difficult way to capture the value of our content. I think what we need to do is deliver that content to consumers in a way where they will appreciate the value,” he said.
I think we appreciate it just fine and already sit through very loud commercials on the site already. Don’t they know that people will just find another free alternative? We’re crafty like that! Hulu, why you trying to hate on us and stop a good thing?
