Hugh Laurie as House Kinda Defeats Don Quixote but Mostly Doesn’t Care

Do you know why I'm using this image of House? Because they need to bring the show and the character back to life, ASAP.
I’m not sure what to say about Monday’s episode of House “Knight Fall”. I suppose it was clever, and if this was a brand new show I’d certainly be intrigued and want to keep watching. However, since this is season six, and by far the least interesting of the seasons…I can’t say I was all that interested. So, House M.D. is still a good show, and better than most. But in terms of competing with itself (like your guidance counselor always said to do!) it’s failing.
Cynthia Watro’s never bugged me as Libby on Lost, but on House as Sam/Samantha (Wilson’s Ex) I just want her to go away. Equally disturbing was seeing the cow’s eye that our patient had vomited. And what was with all of the vomiting in this episode? Well, not vomiting – but 13 eating a giant chicken leg and spitting it out? Not something I love seeing.
I loved the idea of getting House and 13 into costume to get the real juice on the Medieval Fair, but from what they did – it seems like the costumes weren’t necessary. Good idea. Bad execution.
The best scene of the episode was the one where Cuddy was in the cafeteria and Wilson was trying to talk to her. She spoke tons without saying anything. Lisa Edelstein is a fine actress, and she always proves it. My theory is that because House and Cuddy won’t tell Wilson not to date Sam, he’ll see that no one is going to stop him and he needs to be in it for himself – and he’ll just want out of it sooner rather than later. Wilson has become codependent on House when it comes to making the hard decisions in his life. If House actually starts respecting boundaries, Wilson is going to be screwed. And not in the fun way.
The patient was a stupid knight, who you really just wanted to slap. Turns out it wasn’t allergies or even the friggin’ hemlock he had – just steroids. This disillusioned guy could have used a season 1 House to yell at him. But we got nothing. Which leaves me cold and empty and bored enough to re-watch things on Netflix, instead.
