While I found House of Cards a bit too dry, Netflix scored a real winner with Hemlock Grove.

The series has an eerie, supernatural feeling to it as viewers are introduced to the discordant reality of this fictional town. And this town is chock full of mysteries that unravel through the entire season. The narrative is vague with details, which keeps you on your toes and gives you a chance to formulate theories.

To enjoy Hemlock Grove, you must stomach (or turn away) from some of the gross parts, be prepared to make it through all of the episodes for answers, and also be open to not knowing all of the answers at the end of the day.

  • Recommended for fans of: Supernatural, Lost, True Blood, The Night Circus (Erin Morgenstern, Novel), The Covenant (Film), Cloverfield (J.J. Abrams Film.)
  • Number of episodes to watch in a row: 2-4 (There are cliffhangers at the end of most episodes.)
  • Keywords: Transformations, Macabre, Cryptic, Angel, Werewolf, Deviant, Obscure, Prenatural, Sinister, Dragon, Ghoulish, Magic, Teenagers, Gypsy, Supernatural, Carnival, Eccentric, Trailer, Twins, High School, Murders.
  • Eye Candy: the otherworldly Freya Tingley, the ethereal Penelope Mitchell, and the rugged Landon Liboiron.
