It was a night full of some “almost good” fashion on Project Runway this week. Both Anya Ayoung-Chee and Bert Ketter both made “fashionable” additions to Piperlime.com and guest judge Olivia Palermo wowed us with her personal style and observations. Although Anya technically called it a “jumper” it’s not a dress, and it’s for sale on piperlime. Although Bert didn’t win, his dress was also for sale on piperlime. I say “was” because it’s sold out. Which is… mysterious, as it was very boring and uninspired. Which I suppose the 70’s were for some people.

Anya’s jumper was okay, but I have a hard time even picturing her wearing it. It’s just not that stylish. Can we all agree that the true winner of this challenge should have been Viktor Luna? They probably realized it would be too expensive to manufacture his pieces, is all. Viktor’s the only one who even realy stands up to the nightmare that is Joshua McKinley. Anya…I love her style, but she comes across as disingenuous. Either way, I do love her earrings (which you can now buy, though not at piperlime.)

I would honestly love to know why so many people loved this dress, that for 100 smackaroo’s they’d buy it. To me it reads boring, like a swimsuit coverup that you’d get at some spartan like spa that only lets you eat organic food. Or, it looks like what Mary Ann on Gilligan’s island would fashion for herself if she ruined her old outfit. I mean… Anya was the one who had to work with muslin, but her flood pants (they were too high) and Dentyne gum top looked more interesting than this.

I have two questions:

  1. Did you buy this dress? If so, why?
  2. If you didn’t buy the dress, do you wish you still could? If so, seriously – why? Where would you wear it?
  3. If you agree with me that the dress is nothing special, why do you think everyone else is swooning?
