Maybe he’s not the best example anymore… But, what would you do for the chance to be mentored by the top people in your field? Yearly, there are thousands of hopeful high-school students who apply for The National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts YoungArts program. The program is described by HBO as having some of the “world’s greatest artists” and that these students interact with them “in an intimate, interactive classroom environment”. But why do we care what HBO says? I’ll tell you!
To delve behind this project that many people don’t know anything about (I’m raising my hand) HBO is producing a nine-part documentary series called Masterclass. A series that serves as inspiration and hope for students to pursue arts education is important. Masterclass begins this Sunday with an episode that will feature the legendary tenor, Placido Domingo (and he also just has a funny name – I’ve always thought that). Other renowned artists featured in the series include the likes of Edward Albee, Jacques d’Amboise, Olafur Elliason, Frank Gehry, Bill T. Jones, Michael Tilson Thomas, Julian Schnabel and Liv Ullmann.
HBO’s new documentary series, MASTERCLASS, premiers this Sunday Apr. 18 at 5:30pm ET/PT. For more information please visit the official site Masterclass. And check out the full schedule of when each episode will air.
