Golden Globes Nominations 2011: The TV Breakdown (Golly Glee!)
| December 14, 2010 at 11:08 AM ESTThis morning, Katie Holmes announced the 2011 Golden Globe Nominations. As always, there was a mixture of obvious choices and those inescapable “are you friggin’ kidding me?” selections.
We’re here to focus on TV, so that’s what we’ll do. Drama’s that were honored included newcomers Boardwalk Empire and The Walking Dead. But the win feels like it might go to already well-established Mad Men, Dexter or The Good Wife.
Of course, Glee got it’s nom’s on. Last year it won for Best Television Series – Comedy, and it’s nominated there again. It’s also got four other noms for actors and actresses Matthew Morrison, Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Jane Lynch. Glee represents us all as the underdog that we know deserves to win, and wins for these people will likely feel like wins for all the fans in a very personal way. I’m not saying we all need therapy, but we could all use a few good vicarious wins.
The funniest thing that could happen is if Jennifer Love Hewitt wins Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made of Television with The Client List over Judi Dench and Claire Danes in this category. I know it doesn’t say it, but Judi Dench is Dame Judi Dench. To win over a Dame? I don’t know if you want to go there, Love Hewitt. The Dame’s of the world could have their own Mafia type organization going on. (See also: SRSLY?)
