GLEE Season 4: Do we still need Rachel and Kurt? …And Finn?
| November 23, 2012 at 12:30 PM ESTWill you frickin‘ flip out if Berry, Hummel and Hudson take a backseat on Glee?
While we’ve seen many graduates of William McKinley High during Glee season 4 (and more are coming – stay tuned for next week when Quinn Fabray turns teen heads in the hallways) there’s been a particular emphasis on Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) and Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer.) Though we hate the idea of losing the graduates, moving on is a painful and important part of growing up, even for TV shows.
While Finn Hudson (Cory Monteith) makes sense on the show now that he’s back in the same town as everyone else, following Rachel and Kurt out of state is simply a case of playing favorites. Otherwise we’d be seeing all of the graduates, and the show would become very dysfunctional.
But, lo! We’ve now had two entire episodes that haven’t shown us the NYC Berry/Hummel storyline, and after the most recent one (“Dynamic Duets”) we’re actually starting to think we might warm up to the new kids on the block.
Those new kids are Marley (Melissa Benoist), Kitty (Becca Tobin), Jake (Jacob Artist) and Ryder (Blake Jenner).
Of course, what makes it particularly easy is that these characters have pretty similar dynamics to Rachel, Quinn, Puck and Finn. But more on that later.
Are you ready to let go of Rachel, Kurt and maybe even Finn to see more of what’s happening in Lima, Ohio on a regular basis?
