Nikki Blonsky (you know her from Hairspray) is in a new original TV series on ABC Family called Huge. This looks like a genuinely good show for the family to watch together.
Huge is a show that will definitely touch some hearts, and stir up some conversation. This new ABC Family series will follow seven teenagers and the staff who are at a weight-loss camp. This series is based on the Sasha Paley book of the same name.
What really caught my eye was the name of someone who is attached to the project. And that name is Winnie Holzman (Wicked, My So-Called Life, Once and Again) who will serve as executive producer for the premiere episode and then be a consultant for the rest of the series. Also on the project is Holzman’s daughter Savannah Dooley, who will be the producer. Because My So-Called Life was such a great show, I have tremendous faith in what Holzman and Dooley will bring to viewers.
The cast of Huge includes Nikki Blonsky, Ashley Holliday, Gina Torres (!!!), Harvey Guillen, Hayley Hasselhoff, Ari Stidham, Raven Goodwin and Zander Eckhouse. All sizes are in the show, there is racial diversity, and there are both girls and guys who will be attending the weight-loss camp. I think it’s important to note that it’s not just girls who struggle with their weight.
