DWTS Review: Bustin’ a Move in Harem Pants
| November 2, 2010 at 8:52 AM EDTTo kick off the 200th Dancing with the Stars show, the pro’s danced to the first song ever heard on Dancing with the Stars. Do you remember what it was? *Jeopardy music*
That’s right, the song was “Crazy in Love.” Hearing this re-ignited my Beyonce love. Has anyone ever danced to “Single Ladies”? (You can tell I’m not exactly a long-time fan of this show. However, devoting three hours a week to this show already makes me feel like I’ve seen a million episodes.)
For the 200th episode, there were lots of faces from the past. To kick the show off, Kristi Yamaguchi and Apolo Ohno had both coached a team that did a group dance.
Team Kristi! Kristi Yamaguchi coached Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas, Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer and Rick Fox and Cheryl Burke. (It’s odd that Bristol and Mark were Kristi’s first pick, didn’t she know how bad they’ve done?) They danced the Cha-Cha-Cha. This was tough, because in a line-up of three girls, Bristol Palin was the only one who wasn’t a pro, and it showed. Talk about awkward.
But who cares what I think. Bruno thought Bristol did well and Carrie Ann said Rick had never been on “fire like that.” Kyle Massey said this week had been the most fun for him, and Bristol said she was glad to work with other girls. The subtext that everyone had: “I’m sick of working with my partner!”
Team Kristi got a score of 24. Those points got added to the individual dancers scores later on.
Team Apolo! Apolo Ohno coached Kurt Warner and Anna, Brandy and Maks, and Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough. They danced the Cha-Cha-Cha in black harem pants. WHAT? Yup. Black.Harem.Pants. With sparkly silver bra-like tops on the girls. Their song was “Bust a Move.”
Bruno told Brandy that her hips don’t lie (it wasn’t a Shakira song, Bruno!) Carrie Ann said it was a tight, crisp routine. Len thought everyone had upped their game.
Team Apolo got a score of 27, meaning they beat Team Kristi. Going into the individual dances, Kurt, Jennifer and Brandy all had an extra three points. But that can mean a lot in this competition.
