What was Carrie Ann Inaba’a advice to Nene Lekes? And why was it so important?
Carrie Ann Inaba to Nene Lekes (DWTS 2014): You have this incredibly larger than life personality and it shows in your dancing. And half of dancing is personality …. You’re a big, large, beautiful voluptuous, sensual woman. I want you to dance bigger. I thought you were dancing a little small to match Tony.”
How about that?
Nene’s performance was solid. She has rhythm. But what make her go from good to amazing? It’s all in that captivating smile, and putting on a performance while having a good time. The only talent that requires is …not the technical dance stuff, but in showing off confidence.
Imagine if we all approached our daily (and most harrowing) life tasks in that way? We’d get hired for all the best jobs, we’d score the best dates, and we’d generally just attract more good energy.
That smile made up for any lack of technical talent. It pushed her up so much farther to the judges. Consider it.
