The indisputably classic movie Dirty Dancing will be airing on the TV Guide Network on Friday, December 25 from 12:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. ET/PT. That’s TWELVE hours. Seriously. And this isn’t a saga or franchise. There’s just the one movie. Is this really a good idea as far as movie marathons go?
I guess it’s a nice idea in the sense that at any point during that day, you can satisfy any impulse to start watching the movie. But how often can you watch that movie in one day? It might have served TV Guide better to pick a broader theme to focus on. That’s just logic, people. But let’s do it. Let’s carry a watermelon to the ends of the earth!

But, seriously. I kind of feel like Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers should do a ‘Seriously?’ bit about this. A 12-hour marathon of a movie that most of us have arleady seen 20 times? Seriously? We love and miss Patrick Swayze but 12 hours of 80’s fashion? Seriously? This is the most Christmas-y movie you could decide upon for December 25th? Seriously?
