Community Punished by NBC, But No Spankings for Whitney Cummings
| November 15, 2011 at 9:48 AM ESTTo alter one of Abed’s infamous quotes, “Not cool. Not cool, not cool, not cool.” Sigh. By now you already know that NBC has decided to put Community on a hiatus.
The NBC press release has both fans and critics up in arms, learning that while the clever show Community is pushed aside, the deplorable “comedy” Whitney stays. (Who is watching this, who thinks it is funny, and will you please let us get you help?)
New NBC shows: Smash, The Firm, Fashion Star and Are You there, Chelsea
Returning: The Voice, 30 Rock, The Celebrity Apprentice and Who Do You Think You Are?
Canceled: Prime Suspect (Free Agents was previously canceled, and that deserves a moment of silence.)
Hiatus: Community
Not picked up: Awake, Bent, Best Friends Forever
Notes: Whitney moves to Wednesdays at XYZ who cares, dudes. Up All Night moves to Thursdays, as does the new show, The Firm.
It has got to be frustrated to know you’re doing something amazing but getting zero positive feedback from your higher up’s for it. Let’s take a moment to honor Dan Harmon, Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Allison Brie, Yvette Nicole Brown, Donald Glover, Chevy Chase, Ken Jeong, Jim Rash, and the Greendale Human Beings.
Bottom line: Is Community Canceled? No. And though Community may not be canceled, but this isn’t exactly a show of support from NBC.
React: Why do smart shows suffer?
