Christina Aguilera is about to turn 30, has her new movie Burlesque coming to theaters, and is generally upbeat about life (despite a divorce.) She shared about all of that with Ellen DeGeneres today.
Burlesque is one of the major movies opening on Thanksgiving Day, and truly one of those unmissable chick-flicks we want to see no matter how bad the reviews might be. (Is this going to be Glitter bad, or what?)
Aguilera is one of the stars of Burlesque alongside Cher, Kristen Bell and Julianne Hough. She’s undeniably perfect for the part of a showstopper. Aguilera was on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today to talk about the movie, her new state of life as a single woman, and her forthcoming 30th birthday. (Didn’t she seem older? She’s not even 30 yet!)
Wearing a belted white shirtdress, she accessorized with black tights (no leggings here!) and black Christian Louboutin’s. That pop of red from the bottom of the platform pumps was carried up with her red nails and red painted lips.
Christina on why Burlesque was not her first choice of movies:
Ellen: I thought you were thinking about doing a little independent thing to start out.
Christina: That’s exactly what I was thinking. To kind of get my feet wet, get in there, take a smaller role sort of something in an independent film just to kind of dabble in there, you know, be the newcomer and not take a musical at all. And then here I am. Didn’t quite turn out that way starring in a movie with Cher and taking on such an ordeal as a musical. Wearing so many different hats. It was a lot of work. Probably the hardest I’ve worked my whole life.
Christina on how she’s dealing with her divorce:
Ellen: And you’re going through a divorce. That’s gotta be…there’s a lot going on in your life right now.
Christina: Just a little bit.
Ellen: But is that good that you have other things to distract you and help you get through this.
Christina: It is but my focus first and foremost is my son Max. More power to single moms and those out there doing it. I was raised by a single mom. But you know what, at the end of the day….He’s the love of my life. I adore him and he’s such a character and he’s so happy and at the end of the day, that’s what’s most important.
Christina on turning the big 3-0 (her birthday is Dec 18th):
Ellen: And how do you feel about turning 30?
Christina: It’s better than turning 20, I’ll tell you that. You’re more comfortable in your own skin as a woman. You have a better idea of what you want and how to get it. At this time in my life, it’s a huge turning point, it’s a transitional stage and I’m ready. I’m ready.
Ellen: Good. I feel the same way. I think you get better as you get older. Well we have a little cake. We wanted to sing. Come on. Let’s walk over here.
Cake then came out with two burlesque dancers donning fishnets and rhinestones. As the audience sang a shirtless beefcake of a man with a red rose jumped out of the cake. Happy early-birthday to Christina! DeGeneres knows how to throw a party.
