Sales for the song Russian Roulette by Rihanna saw a boost after she did her interview with Diane Sawyer on Friday. While we could call it a timely exploit of a horrible moment, at least it’s important for her to talk about this. But did Rihanna have to wait until the debut of her album (Rated R)? No.

In the interview Rihanna talked about being physically beaten up by ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

His ratings are probably going down. Keenly aware of the damage this could keep doing to his public image, he has put in his two (worthless) cents by telling MTV news,

“”While I respect Rihanna’s right to discuss the specific events of February 8, I maintain my position that all of the details should remain a private matter between us. …  I do appreciate her support and wish her the best. I am extremely sorry for what I did, and I accept accountability for my actions. At this point, I am taking the proper steps to learn about me and grow from my mistakes. I only hope that others in similar situations can learn from our experience as well. Abuse of any kind is always wrong. The rest I leave it to God.” – Chris Brown

Aww, how sweet that Chris Brown cares. And now he just wants Rihanna to shut up about what he’s done because it’s bad for him. He really does care and support her, see?
