Emily Dechanel and David Boreanaz must have had a blast filming Bones season 5, which is all the more reason to add the newly released DVD (or Blu-ray) to your tasteful TV on DVD collection. I have!

Let me refresh your memory about where Bones season 5 began: Booth was still healing from his brain surgery, and strange dream about being married to Bones. This was the most romantic season yet, where Booth is hoping that Bones always wants to be with him. Yup, it’s mad passionate love time! Except, we first need the awkward tension first! Besides, romance between our leads is not the only thing season 5 had to offer.

We had guest stars like Cyndi Lauper, Zooey Deschanel (Margaret, a relative of Bones), Billy Gibbons (Angela’s father), Carla Gallo (Daisy, a series regular now), Brendan Fehr (Booth’s brother, and a longtime crush of many a Roswell fan), Ryan O’Neal (Bones father), Stephen Fry (Dr. Gordon Wyatt) and the dearly beloved Eric Milligan (aka Zack Addy.) Season 5 also gave us the 100th landmark episode of Bones, celebrated by a flashback episode six years in the past, prior to our main characters knew each other. We also got to see The Gravedigger finally put on trial for her crimes, Bones and Booth kissing, and Angela and Hodgins getting back together.

Memorable episodes this season included “Harbingers in the Fountain” about an underwater Utopia, “The Tough Man in the Tender Chicken” about a murder at a chicken factory, “The Devil in the Details” about a corpse who had freaky artificial horns implanted on him and “The Death of the Queen Bee” where we got to go back to Brennan’s high school for a deadly reunion.

Bones is a great series for the will-they-won’t-they tension between our leads, the seriously diverse niche worlds that get explored, the great jewelry that Bones and Angela wear, and the fantastic music – from the theme song to the phenomenal score that plays at the end of ever episode over the credits. You’ll always have a great adventure with this show. That’s why I come back to it every year. Although, I do not advise trying to eat during the first 15 minutes of any Bones episode.
