Music meets TV: Black Violin conjures up Emily Thorne (Revenge)
| November 18, 2012 at 8:08 AM ESTIf Emily Thorne (Emily VanCamp) of ABC’s Revenge was a type of music, we think this “revenger” would be Black Violin. After all, why not ick pan entirely new musical genre for such an entirely unique sort of woman?
Their sound is described via press release as a “funky fusion of classical, jazz, hip-hop, blues and R&B.” Their musical compositions are unique in that they play refined classical music, merged with contemporary pop favorites.
The interpretation of hip hop through classical music is moody, surprising, and unpredictable. Just like Emily Thorne. Perhaps musical composer iZLER will ask to work with them for an episode of Revenge. Till then, you can get your fix of Will B and Kev Marcus at blackviolin.net.
Combining an array of musical styles to produce a signature sound that is part maestro, part emcee, BLACK VIOLIN has influences ranging from Shostakovich and Bach to Nas and Jay-Z. In 2004, the group joined superstar Alicia Keys on stage at the Billboard Music Awards. In 2005, the group was awarded the title of Apollo Legend by the Apollo Theater in Harlem. Since then, BLACK VIOLIN has toured the world and worked with musicians as diverse as Sean Combs, Kanye West, 50 Cent, Aerosmith, Tom Petty, Aretha Franklin and the Eagles, among many others. Last July, they appeared with Gym Glass Heroes on VH1’s “Unplugged,” and in October, they launch a new album entitled Classically Trained.
